White Night

Whitney White Linen Night Returns to Julia Street

The biggest night of the year for the Warehouse District art scene took place on Saturday. From the CAC to all the way down Julia Street, galleries threw their doors open for the white-clad public. Scroll on for photos by Julian Orr.

Today in NOLA 8.5.17

Today, celebrate International Sailor Moon Day with Kawaii NOLA and Krewe du Moon. Contemporary Arts Center hosts the annual White Linen Night, while the Ogden kicks off the statewide exhibition on contemporary art. The great Wanda Jackson will take the stage at Tip's. On this day in 1984, NOLA-born rhythm and blues pianist Tuts Washington passed away while performing at the World's Fair in New Orleans. Now, more to do this Saturday.

Bright Night: White Linen Guide

by Lucy Leonard

By now, you probably have your white linen outfit picked out and ready-to-go. But have you already mapped out your Whitney White Linen Night plan of attack? With attendance numbers nearing the 50,000 mark, this Saturday’s (8.1) event will be packed. You might want to decide ahead of time which galleries to check out and which restaurants are worth the wait. If you haven’t already figured all this out, don’t fear! NoDef has put together a comprehensive guide so that you can be totally prepared when the big night arrives.

The White and the Off-White

by Levi Bruce

We're dusting off the seersucker and putting some shape back into to the pork pie hat for this evening's White Linen Night. With art openings at virtually every Julia St. gallery, a music lineup curated by the New Orleans Indie Rock Collective, and a heaping helping of food, it sounds like a sweet night to strut. But let's face it. It'll be jammed. And maybe a bit stuffy. So if you'd rather be scene than seen, there's another option down the street at Camp and Calliope.
