Stormy Sunday

Following a very, very warm Christmas, some nasty weather is heading New Orleans’ way. The National Weather Service (NWS) is warning that severe thunderstorms, 60 mph winds, and the potential for tornados are in store for the Crescent City.

Still Storm Season

In the New Orleans, we often associate Halloween and the start of Costume Season with the end of Hurricane Season. However, Hurricane Season lasts until November 30th. In case a reminder is necessary, Tropical Storm Kate is swirling around very close to Florida right now.

Bad JuJu: Voodoo Cancels Sunday Shows

Despite two days of rituals, the weather gods unleashed their wrath on Voodoo Music + Art Experience today. Organizers announced that due to the stormy weather, the final day of the popular fest in City Park will be cancelled.

Spooky Storms: Halloween Weather Outlook

The skies are blue today, but come Halloween weekend, the weather may be giving revelers the blues. Forecasters are predicting a wet weekend with Halloween set to be storm central. The chances of thunderstorms on Saturday (10.31) night are close to 100 percent according to the National Weather Service (NWS).

Amazing Grace

Hurricane Season is not quite over yet. Although summer and the K10 onslaught have passed, storm threats have not. Out in the Atlantic, on a path towards the Leeward Islands, Tropical Storm Grace continues to plow west.

Erika Storms West

Meteorologists are cautiously optimistic that Tropical Storm Erika will not pose a threat to New Orleans. Instead, the National Weather Service (NWS) is predicting that the fifth named storm of the Atlantic season will hit Cuba before veering north through Florida.

Danny Coy

It seems as though New Orleans gets whacked by a storm (including The Storm) on the same dates at the end of August. However, Cassandras worried about Hurricane Danny blaming NOLA amidst the K10 commemorations can revel in some relief. The National Weather Service (NWS) says that Danny is weakening.

Spoiler Alert: Heat Advisory in Effect

In case y’all haven’t noticed, it’s hot outside. The National Weather Service (NWS) confirmed the obvious and reminded New Orleanians of the dangers that accompany the weather. On Saturday (7.25), the federal agency issued a Heat Advisory for Orleans Parish.

Jaz Fest Weather Outlook

The Weather Gods and New Orleanians have a love-hate relationship. This weekend, that dynamic is skewing towards the amorous. Radar analysis and forecasts from the National Weather Service (NWS) are predicting a pleasant, rain-free second weekend for Jazz Fest.

Under the Weather

Severe weather battered Louisiana on Monday (4.27) morning. Not stormy, rain on your fest weather, but actual, dangerous stormy weather. The meteorological mayhem resulted in damage, flooding, and cancellations.
