Trombone Shorty Graces USPS JazzFest EnvelopeNever known to mail it in, Trombone Shorty is set for what could be a coronation during JazzFest over the next two weeks. And that's sayin' something for a guy who appeared on the JazzFest poster and dueted with Mayor Mitch last year. The man born Troy Andrews will close out the Acura Stage on the Fest's final day instead of the Neville Brothers, and host his very own Fest next week. Proving yet again that he's everywhere, Andrews also gets a spot on a government-approved piece of Fest swag: the U.S. Postal Service's commemorative envelope. USPS: Bywater, Lafayette Square Post Offices May CloseThe Bywater and CBD may lose post offices because you can now beam your mail to people. The U.S Postal Service says about a third of their business now comes from the Internet, so they're going to study whether or not to shut down 3,700 retail offices across the country. Two of our own - on Poland Avenue in the Bywater and in Lafayette Square - are being wheeled over to the chopping block, but no final decisions about closure has been made yet. |
