Today In NOLA 10.8.15

Today in Nola, Champion’s Square is hosting yet another concert— this time A$AP Rocky. Twin Shadow will be at Republic, and Garden District Book Shop is presenting Creole Son about Edgar Degas in New Orleans. Ogden is hosting their weekly Ogden After Hours. But once upon a time, Don Larsen pitched the only perfect game in a World Series (1956), Che Guevara was captured in Bolivia (1967), President Bush announced the establishment of the Office of Homeland Security (2001), Chevy Chase (1943), and R.L. Stine (1943) were born, and John Hancock died (1793). Don’t get Goosebumps:

Today in NOLA: 3.24.15

The famous Stevie Wonder performs his legendary Songs in the Key of Life album in New Orleans tonight. Electro pop singer Twin Shadow is at Republic, and a couple indie rock bands are slated to play Uptown at Gasa Gasa and The Willow. A documentary exporing the women's liberation movement screens at the Indywood. Happy Birthday to Nathan Williams, leader of Nathan & The Zydeco Cha Chas, who turns 52 today. Now, more on Tuesday's events.

Music Playlist Series: The Sounds of Summer

by Laine Kaplan-Levenson

Hola Nola, and hola the long, hot summer. This week sees a top ten mix of what’s been on rotation as spring heads into summer. From underground to top 40 hip-hop, obscure electronic indulgence, old world reggae, and the necessary French remix, there's plenty of bump n grind to either keep our minds off, or better yet enjoy the brutal beast of humid heat.
