French Quarter Fest: How to Get Around the Vieux Carre

Ahead of tomorrow's kickoff of the 34th annual French Quarter Fest, the City of New Orleans released traffic instructions for locals and tourists alike to navigate the area. The four-day celebration of music, film, and food will overtake the Vieux Carre, offering 60+ local restaurants and the largest showcase of Louisiana music in the world. 


Massive Street Closures Slated for Weekend

If the rain was not deterrent enough, this weekend is a good time to leave your car parked. A host of events including a live television spectacle, two parades, and water line work means that streets all over the Crescent City will be closed.

Overnight Crime Report: 4 Shootings, 2 Cuttings, Robbery

The Major Offense Log (MOL) for Monday (3.07) listed four shooting incidents, two stabbings, and a stickup according to the New Orleans Police Department (NOPD).

Traffic Alert: Uptown & Lower Ninth Ward

Fixing New Orleans’ infrastructure means lots of congested traffic and reduced services at home. Thursday (2.25) will be no exception. The Sewerage & Water Board of New Orleans (SWBNO) announced a slew of work from Uptown to the Lower Ninth Ward that will result in some delays.

Carnival Traffic Regulations Rev Up

Driving during Carnival is hard. Parking during Carnival is even harder. Tonight, the ominous “box” will hit Uptown. This weekend, roads in the Vieux Carré will morph into pedestrian malls.

Man Killed in Fatal CBD Wreck

A 39-year-old man died in a car crash in the Central Business Distirct (SBD) on Monday (1.25) morning according to the New Orleans Police department.  

Fatal Crash on I-10

An early morning traffic accident claimed the life of a 21-year-old woman. Three other people were hospitalized as a result of the wreck according to the New Orleans Police Department (NOPD).

Chaos in Carré Coming

Traffic trauma in NOLA peaks on Mardi Gras, but the build up to that climax is in full effect. Today the City issued a list of advisories and warnings about the transit trauma that may ensue from the combined Sugar Bowl and New Year’s Eve festivities.

Two Fatal Accidents Mar Holiday

Unfortunately, Christmas has been busy for the NOPD Fatality Unit. Two separate accidents over the last 24 hours have claimed a pair of lives, a pedestrian on the West Bank and a driver in the East.

Detours on Decatur

Lower Decatur Street is about to get even messier. Beginning on Monday (12.07), Entergy will be doing some massive maintenance on their French Quarter infrastructure which means lane closures and parking restrictions on the crowded road.
