Today in New Orleans 2.5.13

Today, make groceries Uptown at the Farmer’s Market. Later, bring the kids to Maple Street for a family friendly concert, then head to One Eyed Jacks or Siberia for more live music. On this day in 2006, Aaron Neville and Aretha Franklin performed the national anthem at Super Bowl XL at Ford Field in Detroit. Now, more to do this Tuesday.

Today's Events: 10.10.11

Today, The Weir begins its final week at Deutches Haus, Janelle Monae is playing at Tulane, and Toro Y Moi makes chill-waves at One Eyed Jack's. In history, today the tuxedo dinner jacket made its American debut at the autumn ball in Tuxedo Park, N.Y. (1886), The Beach Boys released ‘Good Vibrations’ (1966), Connecticut granted gays the right to wed (2008), Giuseppe Verdi was born (1813), and Orson Welles died (1985.) It’s World Day Against the Death Penalty and World Mental Health Day, so here’s to parole:

Foburg Update: Toro Y Moi Cancelled

According to the PR team of Chazwick Bundick (aka Toro Y Moi) the much anticipated performance at Saturn Bar is officially (and unfortunately) canceled. Chaz has lost his voice, and is super bummed that he won’t be playing his Foburg stint; Sun Airway, Cloud Nothings, Cults, and Small Black (in that order) will still Chill Wave it out on the Saturn stage. You know what they say, voices are for saving (for SXSW).
