Lift Off

by Ashley Rouen

The ecosphere of the Lower Ninth Ward has been changing ever since Katrina. As the neighborhood revitalizes, art grows from and within the community. One such project inspired by the abandoned St. Maurice Church is coming to a close. Airlift’s final episode in their Space Rites saga blasts off this Saturday (1.24.) The brass section of the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra along with Guggenheim Award Winning Composer Yotam Haber will perform in front of Altarpiece, the sound installation of over 30 TVs rigged to interpret sound through light waves projected on the screens.
