Body of Missing Mississippi Swimmer Recovered

A couple taking a promenade along the river on Wednesday night discovered the body of Dave Hebron floating by the docks according to the New Orleans police Department (NOPD). The Fired Department arrived on the scene and recovered the corpse, ending a multi-agency search for the missing man.

The Mississippi River’s bends through New Orleans are a far cry from Tom Sawyer’s swimming hole. A 42-year-old man is missing after taking a plunge into the River near Jax Brewing according to the New Orleans Police Department (NOPD).

Cover-Up: Clothes No Longer Optional at The Country Club

NOLA’s favorite (and only) clothing optional pool will require its patrons to wear proper swim attire. Carefree, nudie days and nights swimming at the Bywater’s Country Club are over after complaints from neighbors and a rape allegation. Though local customers have expressed their continued support of the venue via Facebook the new rules were effective Tuesday (10.21). 

Adults/Swim Returns to Rooftop of W Hotel

This Sunday, Adults / Swim returns to the WET Outdoor Rooftop Pool at the W New Orleans Hotel on Poydras. The pool will be available to the public from 11 to 5 Sunday afternoons starting June 2nd  and will last through August 25th. This is an adults-only affair and you must be at least 21 years old to indulge. Adults / Swim will feature specialty cocktails, a live DJ and a pool bites menu.

Haul out your swimming trunks, because the New Orleans Recreation Department (NORD) has announced an initiative to reopen numerous pools around the city in preparation for summer 2011. Vanessa Gueringer of the Community Voice is a proponent of this decision going into effect as soon as possible, in efforts of creating a more diverse array of recreational opportunities.
