Boudin and Beer Comes Back Bigger, and with Blood

A huge New Orleans gala attracted some of the most famous people in New Orleans to a Warehouse District location Saturday night, but trays weren't filled with pate and champagne, and the music wasn't jazz played at a volume designed not to interrupt conversation. Hosted by Chef-bros Emeril Lagasse, Mario Batali and Donald Link, the second installment of Boudin and Beer took the Crescent City's benefit template and sent it to Cajun Country for the evening on Friday night.

I'm In 2.0

There's no new name yet, but that's not stopping the Hornets from swarming the city with more advertising. In the first Tom Benson edition of New Orleanians you may or may not recognize saying that they're "in," we find ourselves looking for clues about the next name. Look, there's an alligator. Oh, a local McDonald's owner...so much for the Seafood Dome. Susan Spicer. The Jimmy Graham. Bag of Donuts!? Will we see any of these likenesses on the court? Only time will tell. Until then, get in like it was the first time, and watch the video here.

Link, Spicer, NOLA's Best Bug Man Welcome Bellocq

by Brad Rhines

At Bellocq’s grand opening last night, patrons partied like it was 1899.  Bellocq, which is the newest venture from the crew at Cure, specializes in 19th century cocktails and officially opened late last month on Lee Circle, alongside the newly renovated Hotel Modern.

Mondo Murder Suspect Arrested

by Shay Sokol (Updated 12:30 p.m.)

The Friday afternoon murder that broke Lakeview's normally placid air stemmed from a domestic dispute between employees of Susan Spicer's Mondo restaurant, police said. At 11 p.m. Friday night, police arrested 44-year-old Farrel Sampier for gunning down 21-year-old Antonio Miller outside the Harrison Ave. restaurant. Sampier turned himself in, police said. Sampier, whose daughter is the mother of the murder victim's child, had an argument with Miller about "the care of the child," according to a NOPD statement.

No Reservations Goes to Cajun Country Tonight

A few months ago, the Travel Channel's victual voyager, Anthony Bourdain, was spotted throughout the Cajun heartland, causing a Twitter ruckus. Sure, he met with Susan Spicer and David Simon, and attended a pig roast. But he also had the nerve to walk into a sushi joint! Well, the snarky voiceovers have been completed, and the episode's ready for airing. Tonight, the No Reservations Cajun Country episode is set to air.

Spice Hurl

Riddle: What would make Morris Bart AND David Simon both happy? Susan Spicer (not represented by Bart :() has just filed a class action lawsuit against BP. The famed chef of Bayona, and Treme inspiration is gunning for the polluter citing income lost on account of the oilpill and consequent lack of seafood. You geaux, girl!
