Free Michael Ian Black Show at Tulane

Tonight, comedian Michael Ian Black is proving his craft to be a labor of love, offering New Orleans a free show for Labor Day. While 20-somethings recognize Black’s face mostly from VH1 countdowns, the longtime comic got his start in 1988, when he co-founded The State at NYU. The comedy troupe gained popularity, and became an iconic comedy show on MTV.

Today in New Orleans 7.11.13

Tonight, standup comic Pete Holmes is at Tipitina’s, UMOJA at the Mahalia Jackson, and the Ogden is open after hours. Happy Birthday to Bruce Daigrepont, the Cajun accordionist who leads the Fais Do Do every Sunday at Tipitina’s. Now, more to do this Thursday.
