Two Final Chances to Spot This Year's Mardi Gras Indians Suits The word has gone out to the Whole Wide Creation, and the weather forecast looks downright mild. So, as of now, plans are holding for Super Sunday to go off on Central City as planned*. This year, the annual parade and festival at A.L. Davis Park (Washington and LaSalle) is conveniently followed the next day by St. Joseph's Night, which is the last time Indians mask before retirinf this year's suits. St. Joseph's a Day of Elaborate Constructions by Christilisa Gilmore Whether it's Catholic parishioners adorning altars or Mardi Gras Indians taking a second opportunity to show off their intricate, bursting suits, St. Joseph's Day is a day to enjoy the fruits of labor. The Catholic holiday, celebrated every March 19, came to prominence in New Orleans because of the many Italian immigrants who ended up here.
