New Orleans’ next generation of musicians is rising, and they do not all play horns. Friday night, The Dragon’s Den (435 Esplanade) is hosting an event from 10 pm to 3 am for NOLA MIX, a local program that supports the growth of musicians and DJs of all ages and talent, featuring DJs from around New Orleans.  DJ’s and artists include Brice Nice, DJ Otto, DJ Proppa Bear, DJ Pr_ck, DJ DubLa, DJ Yamin, DJ Tony Skratchere, DJ BeesKnees, and Slangston Hughes with Fo on the Flo.    

New Orleans is famous for its music, but many outsiders find the city synonymous with only certain genres and styles. Flying under the radar of trendy press coverage of artists featured in HBO’s Treme and bounce on late night television, is a diverse and tight knit movement of young emerging artists with an intelligent world view and unique, genre-bending talent.
