New Orleans Reaches 400th Shooting Victim This Year


New Orleans saw a short respite from gun-related violence earlier this month, but unfortunately the city’s crime problem rages on. Jeff Asher, local crime analyst and the man behind NOLA Crime News, noted that two shootings yesterday mark New Orleans’ 400th gun-related victim in 2017 — the fastest the city has reached this bleak milestone in the past seven years.

As NoDef reported, a shooting occurred Saturday (4.29) night in Hollygrove, leaving one man dead. Though the New Orleans Police Department has not yet made an official statement, it was confirmed publicly today that the previously unidentified victim was determined to be New Orleans-based rapper, BTY YoungN. He was 27.

The New Orleans Police Department saw eight crimes hit the city on Sunday (4.16) and five crimes on Monday (4.17). According to the Major Offense Log (MOL), the NOPD responded to two rapes, two robberies, two shootings, a stabbing an unclassified death on Sunday. On Monday, the MOL recorded a simple carjacking, aggravated burglary, a shooting, a homicide, and an unclassified death.

The New Orleans Police Department (NOPD) responded to eight crimes around New Orleans on Friday (3.10). The Major Offense Log (MOL) recorded a car jacking, a sexual assault, two robberies, two shootings, and two unclassified deaths.

The New Orleans Police Department (NOPD) had a busy day on Thursday (11.17).  The Major Offense Log (MOL) reported seven Armed Robberies, a shooting, and a rape.

 


Broadmoor Shooting Claims Two Lives


The recent crime wave continued on Memorial Day (5.30) morning. Two men were fatally shot at a Broadmoor residence on Monday morning according to the New Orleans Police Department (NOPD).

Crime spiked back to the violent side on Wednesday (5.25). The New Orleans Police Department (NOPD) responded to two fatal shootings, a bomb scare, mugging, a carjacking, and an internet deal gone awry according to the Major Offense Log (MOL).

NOLA was plagued by two rapes, two shootings (one fatal), and a home invasion according to the Major Offense Log (MOL) for Monday (5.23) from the New Orleans Police Department (NOPD).


Overnight Crime Report: 7 Shot, 2 Fatally, 2 Unclassified Deaths, Rape, Mugging


The last 24 hours in NOLA were bloody. Two men died in shootings, another two expired from unknown causes, and three other people sustained non-fatal gunshot wounds according to the Major Offense Log (MOL). The New Orleans Police Department (NOPD) also reported a rape and a mugging.
