Basic Tips for Jazz Fest

Jazz fest is big and it’s awesome! It’s always very easy to have a wardrobe malfunction, an act of god, or a lack of provisions detract from your festing experience. Some basic preparation is necessary. So, without further ado, we are proud to present the fist installment of NoDef’s annual guide to the Fest.

Waiting for the Other Shoe to Drop

After Mardi Gras, more than one New Orleanian might be considering retiring a pair of shoes. The Louisiana Athletic Trainers’ Association is asking locals to think twice about their old kicks. The group announced the launch of a seven week campaign to collect shoes for the needy in conjunction with global non profit Soles4Souls.

Muses Inspire

The Maidenly Parade in Photo

The parade of shoes came and went Thursday night (2.12.) Though a shooting broke loose on Erato and St. Charles, about halfway through Muses resulting in the death of one victim, the female krewe still managed to make the best of the night. Roller Derby girls, flambeaux, towering butterflies and a new addition this year, giant high heels were all a part of the amusing magic.

No Quarter: Muggers Snatch Sneakers, iPhones in FQ

The French Quarter was the scene of two armed robberies early this morning (11.30.) In one case, another victim wound up barefooted after a thief stole his jewelry and his kicks. A second victim had his phone and his money stolen.

CBD Shoe Snatcher

Jordan Jefferson Gets Some Kicks Back

LSU Quarterback Jordan Jefferson won't get to play tonight against Mississippi State, but he at least has a few more footwear options as he gets dressed to go out and watch the game. This week, Jefferson got back 33 out of the 49 pairs of shoes that police confiscated earlier this month. Jefferson is accused of kicking a man during a fight at family Baton Rogue establishment, Shady's Bar, and has been suspended from the team indefinitely. The return wasn't a simple handoff. Jefferson's lawyer was required to file a motion. Jefferson's wardrobe, no doubt, was glad for the audible.
