Pruning the Bard, Expanding the ForestAs You Like It: A ReviewAs it was for A Midsummer Night's Dream, The Besthoff Sculpture Garden is The NOLA Project's great ally in its latest Shakespearean incarnation: As You Like It. 'A Midsummer Night's Dream' Returns to NOMA Sculpture GardenWay back in May, a production of Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream in the New Orleans Museum of Art's Sculpture Garden dazzled all who came. As NoDef Drama Critic Jim Fitzmorris wrote, "Endlessly inventive with its surroundings, this Midsummer is a love letter from the young theatre company to romantics all across the city." Trouble is, there were only four engagements, and not all of the city's romantics got to follow the story around City Park for themselves. Luckily, the NOLA Project has decided for an October encore, which starts tomorrow night. Twelfth Night: A ReviewFacing the StageNoDef Drama Critic Jim Fitzmorris takes on the New Orleans Shakespeare Festival at Tulane's production of Twelfth Night. The Whirligig of TimeAn Op-Ed Preview of the New Orleans Shakespeare Festival's Twelfth NightNoDef's Drama Critic takes a look at what the preparations for an anticipated local production say about the quality of New Orleans theatre. |
