Payton's Pay Day

As promised, Sean Payton is with New Orleans for the long haul. On Wednesday (3.23), the Saints head coach announced that negotiations are complete on his new contract.

Payton Preps for Pay

Despite the drama and speculation that has surrounded Louisiana football for the past six months, it appears that the key personnel will not change during the 2016 season. During a radio interview on Thursday (2.25), Sean Payton said that he is close to closing a contract extension and added that he expects Brees to be back as well.

The 2015 Saints raised a lot of questions about the franchise’s future. Social media went into overdrive with debates about Breesus, C.J. Spiller, the O-line (or lack thereof), and Rob Ryan. Rob Ryan and the City of New Orleans seemed like a perfect fit. Ryan relished the local food, bought rounds at Mae’s, and took strolls around the Quarter. The only problem for the Saints Defensive Coordinator was, well, the Saints’ defense. Today (11.16), Fox Sports reported that Black n’ Gold fired Ryan ending the agony (and the occasional ecstasy).

Sean Payton’s Play It Forward Foundation made a big move this week by donating two Feed The Children 18 wheelers filled to the brim with food to the Second Harvest Food Bank. The deliveries will benefit 800 families in Washington and Iberia Parishes.

Cap-Strapped Saints Release 4 Defensive Veterans

The New Orleans Saints released four veteran defensive players Wednesday. In their quest to free up space under the NFL's salary cap, the Black and Gold decided to part ways with MLB Jonathan Vilma, OLB Will Smith, CB Jabari Greer and S Roman Harper. The four players, all of whom were in their 30s, were all locker room leaders throughout their career, but they also struggled with injury in 2013.
