Gas Main Leaks at McMain


Students at Eleanor McMain Secondary School unexpectedly received a day off for the Epiphany. Students and staff were evacuated, then sent him on account of a gas leak at Weezy's alma mata on Wednesday (1.06) morning.


School of Wreck


In the second major accident of Thursday (10.22) morning, a school bus was involved in a significant crash on Elysian Fields Avenue. No fatalities were reported, but the New Orleans Police Department (NOPD) is on the scene.


Green Wave Grapples With Possible Pink Slips


Tuition for the current fiscal year at Tulane is 44,425 dollars excluding room and board or books. However, that figure is not enough to prevent a reported 15 to 20 million dollar budget deficit at the Uptown university. Today, Tulane Prez Michael Fitts sent an email to staff announce cost cutting measures including staff buyouts.


NOPD: Swarm Stabs Squatters St. Roch School


The St. Roch area has seen some serious crime over the last year, but an incident early Tuesday (5.12) morning is one of the more bizarre cases. A pair of squatters were hospitalized after allegedly being assaulted by a group of 15-20 masked men.

School was out over Thanksgiving weekend, but that didn’t stop these crooks from trying to get back in. Police are now on the hunt for clues into the identity and motives of two separate men who broke into local schools on November 28.


Not for Teacher: Educator Busted for Drugs


A Plaquemines Parish school teacher and his roommate are headed for some serious detention after an inter-agency operation ended with a drug bust at their residence. Three different agencies coordinated to follow up on a tip about the educator and ultimately discovered a criminal stash of heroin, acid, 'shrooms, and weed at an uptown residence.


Ezra Open

Better than Ezra's 12th Annual Benefit Raises Money for Bethune Elementary



Now known as much for their charity work as they are for their music, Better than Ezra is performing for their 12th annual Ezra Open. This year’s benefit concert will raise money for their most recent partnership with Young Audiences, specifically Y.A.’s involvement with Bethune Elementary in Hollygrove.
