Today in New Orleans 10.12.13

It was rained out in September, but the Monaghans' annual charity poker crawl is back on this morning. Meet them at the Mint, or head to City Park for today’s Seafood Festival, with Sister Hazel headlining. On this day in New Orleans history, musician James "Sugar Boy" Crawford -- writer of "Iko Iko" and more -- was born in 1934. Now for more of today's events:

Today in New Orleans 9.28.13

For the fourth year in a row, NOLA on Tap is offering pet lovers a chance to day drink for their four-legged friends. Across the bridge, Nicholas Payton, the Hot 8 Brass Band, and more are taking to the stage for the Old Algiers RiverFest. On this day in 1868, dozens of black Americans were killed in the Opelousas Massacre. Now, more to do this Saturday.
