Happy Labor Day, New Orleanians! Enjoy the last lazy days of summer with a few laidback events around town. The Allways welcomes a drag reunion, and Santos Bar invites aspiring performers to take to their stage for an open mic event. It's a survival of the funniest at The New Movement, while Instant Opus returns to the Hi-Ho. On this day in 1948, a devastating hurricane with winds up to 90 MPH hit New Orleans, creating extensively damage but thankfully no loss of life. Forecasters began naming hurricanes in 1950. Southern Decadence is kicking off its latest round of feathers, leather, boas, and glittter. Get started this Friday in thw Qaurter with a strip show on Bourbon Street or dance party on the lower Decatur drag.
