Notes on Jazz Fest's 2016 Changes



Change is often frowned down upon in New Orleans, especially change at Jazz Fest. On Friday (4.22), the iconic festival kicked off with a few new tweaks. By “tweaks,” we primarily mean the addition of large, green bleachers in the outfield. Controversial form the point of announcement, the new additions proved positive in their debut.

Coroner Introduces New Rules for Police Shootings


Some police issues are not unique to New Orleans. Perhaps, the largest law enforcement issue in the public eye right now are questions about force and death. NOLA is taking action. On Monday (11.10,) the Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office revealed new policies that will add transparency to deaths that happen while a person is in jail or in the custody of law enforcement. Tighter procedures also apply to deaths occurring at the hands of police or in hospitals.
