Buddy Roemer Bows Out of Republican Race Unike seemingly every other Republican presidential candidate, Buddy Roemer never mounted a surge. Since the former Louisiana governor wasn't invited to any debates, the attendant media attention that coupled a burst in the polls would've helped him more than most. So, with another debate looming and Stephen Colbert running in front of him in one poll, Roemer is hatching his escape plan from the GOP race, according to the Chicago Tribune.
