For Ever and a Play: Shakespeare Festival at Tulane Returns

As the Shakespeare Festival at Tulane turns one year older, it continues to mature in the variety of entertainment and education made available to its patrons. The 20th annual season will open with Shakespeare’s The Merry Wives of Windsor on June 13, and will feature newly expanded programming for the summer.

Today in New Orleans 12.16.12

There’s no shortage of music this Sunday night, whether you’re digging through crates of vinyl with DJ Soul Sister or getting brassy with the Hot 8. Catch some classic theatre on St. Claude or in City Park, or head to Oak for the Joe Krown Trio. On this day in 1935, the scariest bridge in town was dedicated to Huey P. Long.

Today in New Orleans 12.13.12

Get cozy this cold Thursday night with crafts on St. Claude, Shakespeare at NOMA, DJ Shadow at the Republic, and more. On December 13, 1935, the Bonnet Carre Spillway was dedicated. Click for more on what to do tonight in the Crescent City.

Today's Events: 12.8.11

Today, Romeo and Juliet premieres at NOMA, Black Christmas screens at the Alamo Underground, and BOUNCE XI gets asses in the air at the Republic. Also on this day, John Lennon was murdered by Mark David Chapman (1980), Bill Clinton signed the North American Free Trade Agreement (1993) into law, The Grateful Dead announced they were breaking up after 30 years of bear dancing (1995), Sammy Davis Jr. (1925) and Diego Rivera (1886) were born, and Golda Meir died (1978).
