Chaos in Carré Coming


Traffic trauma in NOLA peaks on Mardi Gras, but the build up to that climax is in full effect. Today the City issued a list of advisories and warnings about the transit trauma that may ensue from the combined Sugar Bowl and New Year’s Eve festivities.

Bike Easy ED Dan Favre Talks Lanes, Cars, & Bikelash



Dan Favre can’t find time to catch his breath since Bike Easy hired him as their new Executive Director. In his first month, Favre and Bike Easy kicked off their membership drive, oversaw a waterlogged Bike To Work Week, and continued their advocacy work with programs such as the Safe Routes To School program. 


Traffic Alert: Detours at S. Claiborne & S. Carrollton this Weekend


The long job of rebuilding New Orleans’ infrastructure continues to take a toll on motorists. This weekend (February 21, 22), work on water mains will mean delays and detours near the intersection of South Carrollton Avenue and South Claiborne Avenue.


FEMA Grants City $9 Mil for Road Repair


Nine years after Katrina, many of the City's roads still are damaged, but some help is on the way. A 9 million dollar award has been granted to the city of New Orleans for road repairs in the Desire and Gentilly Terrace corridors. Streets damaged during Hurricane Katrina will receive long overdue treatment, funded by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). Senator Mary Landrieu, Chair of Homeland Security Appropriations Subcommittee U.S. Representative Cedric Richmond and Mayor Mitch Landrieu announced the funds today (10.07).


Roads Close as Tulane's Yulman Opens


It's no Mardi Gras, but uptown is going to see some traffic disruptions on Saturday (9.6) when Tulane's Yulman Stadium officially opens. The City has issued a set of reminders and guidelines for road closures, parking regulations, and all the other hoopla accompanying the sold-out opener.


Traffic Alert: Girod Street Shutdowns


The metaphorical road to recovery often means that New Orleans' literal roads will be faced with delays. Such is the case with Girod St where work on a new 12" water main will begin on Memorial Day (Monday, May 26, 2014) causing consternation for cars.
