Getting A Lyft


Just when the controversy surrounding Uber is fading, a new ride-sharing service is coming to town. Lyft began operations in the Crescent City on Thursday (3.3).


Meter Metrics


Despite strong protests from service industry workers, the much hyped changes in parking policies went into effect on Monday (1.11). Meter hours were increased downtown, ticket prices are slated to rise, and parking enforcement  was increased.


Flood Insurance Refunds Start Today


After several years of fighting, and an uncharacteristic bipartisan push from the Louisiana congressional delegation, flood insurance reform passed last May. Now, the law is beginning to show results. Flood insurance refunds will be issued beginning today (10.1) to eligible policy holders and is expected to completed by the end of the calendar year. These refunds are expected to average $100.
