Full Horse: Play Proceeds Go Towards NOPD's Mounted Unit (PHOTOS)

This morning, theater folks and NOPD’s mounted unit joined forces and horses. In honor of the Saenger’s presentation of Warhorse, a World War I story from the perspective of a soldier’s horse. Three actors suited up as the head, the heart, and the hind, and met one of NOPD’s mounted unit’s own four-legged steads.

A Peek at NOLA's French Quarter Street Artists

The French Quarter is full of music, paintings, and performance, but some of the art is harder to categorize. Street artists get creative with their crafts, blending costuming and composing, miming, and dancing. Rachel June captures some of the Quarter's regular entertainers during their unconventional shifts. 

Pregnant Woman Shot in Algiers

A pregnant woman was shot in the 11000 block of Patterson Rd. on Sunday (May 11), according to NOPD. Officers discovered the victim, who had gunshot wounds to the neck, chest, and back, at 11:50 p.m.

Photo Recap of FiyaFest at Mardi Gras World

The first annual Fiya Fest kicked off on the riverfront on Friday, May 2, at Mardi Gras World. The star studded lineup included George Porter Jr., Maceo Parker, the 101 Runners, and many more. Proceeds benefited local nonprofit the Roots of Music, who also played the festival. Review of this Weekend's Bunarchy Bar Hop, Earth Day Fest in Armstrong Park

In addition to candy and parades, Easter weekend in NOLA included a rabbit-themed bar hop, and an Earth Day Festival at Armstrong Park. Rachel June captured photos of this year's Bunarchy in the Marigny, and Daniel Paschall caught some highlights from the Louisiana Bucket Brigade's Earth Day Festival and Green Business Expo. Old & Nu Fellas Second Line (PHOTOS)

The Old & Nu Fellas second line paraded through the Treme yesterday, with Sir Larry Terrence and Lady Terrista Roby reigning as this year's king and queen. The TBC Brass Band marched with the crowd, and they made stops at the Jackie and George Lounge, Justine's, the Candlelight Lounge, and more. Click through for photos by Rachel June. 

Good Peel: Crawfest at Tulane (Photos)

The crawfish are not particularly large this season, but that didn't stop crowds from coming out to Tulane's 8th annual Crawfest. The university's massive crawfish boil boasted over 18,000 pounds of crawfish, live music, and more from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. yesterday, April 5. Click through for photos by Rachel June.

Marigny-Bywater Construction Update, in Photos

Record stores, schools, restaurants, and more are under renovation in the Marigny and Bywater neighborhoods. Photographer Rachel June took a trip down and around St. Claude Ave. to snap shots of the long-awaited St. Roch Market, Euclid Records' journey down the block, and Dat Dog's progress on their new Frenchmen St. location.  

Hogs for the Cause Setup (PHOTOS)

Master cookers braved the rain this afternoon to set up for Hogs for the Cause, going on until 10 p.m. tonight and through tomorrow at City Park. Hungry hoards will brave the mud this evening to hear music from Earphunk, Hurray for the Riff Raff, and many others. NoDef checked out the scene this afternoon before the gates opened.

Usually flooded with tourists, crowds fled the streets of the Vieux Carre this morning in favor of indoor activities. However, buggies, delivery people, artists, and service industry folks found awnings and ponchos to protect themselves through the storm. Click through for photos of New Orleans in the rain, by Rachel June.
