Derby'er Welcomes the Potato

by Dee Dee Rosenkrantz

Sunday boasted the largest field yet in the four-week old Pinewood Derby racing series at the Lost Love Lounge. The NoDef  No. 13 car finished the night undefeated. Despite evidence of uneven speed being distributed from each of the newly-refurbished track's four lanes, enigmatic 13 car owner B.E. Mintz was left remarking that the course was "very nice potato."  Seven entries raced, with No. 13 sweeping the heats in one-on-one action, then winning three straight in the finals. The result is yet another qualification from the NoDef Racing Team for the January 9th Championship.

Double Derby

Alt Sports Update

Alt Sports were in full force this weekend as the RollerGirls battled Mississippi, and Pinewood Derby returned for a third week. NOLA Defender was there to capture all the details.

Derby Days

Late Sunday night, the interior of the Marigny's Lost Love Lounge was engulfed by a large wooden track. Shortly before eleven, champagne was popped and the inaugural season of Pinewood Derby was underway. Yeah, Pinewood Derby... those little five ounce wooden cars that Cub Scouts race in Elementary School.
