Beloved former Saints captain Will Smith was shot and killed following a minor traffic accident in the Lower Garden District on Saturday (4.09) night according to the New Orleans Police Department (NOPD).

Brees, Saints Back USA World Cup Bid

The Dome won't be filled for another few months, but football is in season. In this case, the swampy conditions are in the Amazon, and the Saints are pulling for the Yanks. As the U.S. kicked off their World Cup campaign with a dramatic win over Ghana Monday night, the Black and Gold players were behind their brethren, and Tweeting about it.

Looking Back at the 2013 Team, and a Peek at Next Season

NOLA's Global Party Welcomes Pierre Thomas

New Orleanians are usually satisfied with a charity pub crawl or crawfish boil, but tonight's event at the Eiffel Society (2040 St. Charles Avenue) is for fancy philanthropists. The local installment of the Global Party is on tonight starting at 8pm, one of more than 80 parties, held in 120+ cities, in a 24-hour period.

Post-Mortem: Saints-49ers

Yesterday's heartbreaking loss to the 49ers means we must say goodbye to the weekly ritual of watching our boys until next season. Saints defensive leader Jon Vilma summed up the difficult reality of the loss on Twitter: "...There are no moral victories. we lost. So idk wat ur really thanking me for bc we didn't get da job done." There remains a lot to be proud of in this record breaking season. But, the realities of the NFL news cycle also reared their head this morning, when rumors surfaced that offensive lineman Carl Nicks and, less surprisingly, Defensive Coordinator Gregg Williams might be leaving. In better news, Pierre Thomas is okay.
