Today in NOLA 9.16.17

Today, celebrate the grand reopening of Music Box Village in the Bywater. Annunciation Park is taken over by an epic arts festival dedicated to hispanic heritage in New Orleans. Fashion and furry creatures come together at the 10th annual Bad to the Bone runway show, while some of the city's greatest musicians perform at Art Klub. On this day in 1964, The Beatles played City Park Stadium for $5 a ticket. Now, more details for today's festivities.

Avoid the Mall with Merriment on Magazine

by Ryan Sparks

NoDef staffers are suckers for alliteration, so naturally we can’t ignore Merriment on Magazine, the street-long kickoff to the busy holiday shopping season on one of the city's prime local retail corridors. Small businesses can rarely offer up the deep discounts that national chains do or afford full page ads in Da Paper, so the Magazine Street Merchants Association organizes the event  to draw local and regional attention to the unique stores up and down the street.
