Hollis Drops Out of U.S. Senate Race

Before it rounds the corner into the fall finale, the race for one of Louisiana's two U.S. Senate seats is shedding some conservative weight. State Rep. Paul Hollis announced his withdrawal from the race to challenge U.S. Sen. Mary Landrieu on Monday morning.

The 2014 U.S. Senate race gained another announced challenger on Wednesday. State Rep. Paul Hollis (R-Mandeville) made his candidacy official with a four-minute announcement video. Hollis' campaign is attempting to cast his best-funded opponents, Sen. Mary Landrieu (D-New Orleans) and U.S. Rep. Bill Cassidy (R-Baton Rouge), as Washington insiders.
