Dog Jacked: Tropical Isle Owners Donate $2500 for Skeeter's Safe Return Nearly a week ago today, Uptown resident “Meg” was the victim of a carjacking that left her longing for something more irreplaceable than her Lincoln Navigator. Although her vehicle was found, Skeeter, the victim’s 11-year-old Jack Russell & Chihuahua mix is still far from his home.The Louisiana Humane Society offered up $1000 to encourage Skeeter’s safe return from the dog-jacker. Today, Tropical Isle Owners Pam Fortner and Earl Bernhardt decided they had to do something to up the ante and nearly tripled the reward. Southern Hospitality: Flora-Bama Helps New Orleans Musicians in Isaac's Wake No one understands better what an unexpected hurrication can do for business than the owners of Pensacola's renowned Flora-Bama, adding one more item to the short list of things that Perdido Key and New Orleans have in common. Residents of both cities know how devastating a hurricane can be to people’s personal lives, jobs, homes, and businesses. After Isaac, many of New Orleans musicians were jobless for weeks as they waited for their venues to reopen, and the Flora-Bama decided to come to their aid in the form of a fundraiser. They presented a check at Tropical Isle today, and all proceeds will go towards the New Orleans Musicians Assistance Foundation.
