Downriver Fest Returns to Old US Mint

Pop over to the Old U.S. Mint this Saturday to peep the Downriver: The Mighty Mississippi River Festival. The free festival celebrating the bend in the river is returning for a second year. From 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Friends of the Cabildo, in collaboration with the French Market, invite the public to a themed event celebrating culture and life on the crescent of muddy waters that have formed the cradle of New Orleans history. This year’s theme is coffee and bananas, which will be discussed in lectures and cooking shows scheduled throughout the day.

Suspicious Packages Found on Canal, CBD

A scene of police clustered on Canal last night in response to a suspicious package, reported by a resident. As Boston remains under lockdown, people all over the country are on guard. Yesterday at 9:13pm, cops received the call about an unattended backpack that was sitting against a trashcan in the 600 block of Canal, near the corner of Chartres. A few blocks away in the CBD, a lone lunchbox made one citizen weary. 

iPhone Plucked from Palace Cafe (VIDEO)

A man's lunchtime conversation at Palace Cafe was interrupted Friday in the latest French Quarter iPhone snatching, according to NOPD. About 1 p.m., the man was sitting at an outdoor table at the famed spot in the 600 block of Canal St. He was showing a friend something on his phone, when a man ran up and took it out of his hands.
