Thanks Mother Nature: Tornado Watch During TS Cindy


As most of southeastern Louisiana is making preparations for Tropical Storm Cindy, Mother Nature upped the ante for New Orleanians. The National Weather Service's Tornado division called for a tornado warning in Orleans Parish through midday Wednesday. 


NOAA Predicts Above-Normal Hurricane Season


Forecasters at NOAA’s Climate Prediction Center predict this year’s Atlantic hurricane season, which runs June 1 through November 30, will see an “above-normal” amount of activity. 


NWS Predicts an Explosive Storm Season


The last few days have seen an increase in overcast cloudy skies and heavy winds clocking in above 30 mph in New Orleans — which some meteorologists believe is a small indicator of what is to come this storm season. According to the National Weather Service (NWS), record warm winters this year and above average temps in the Gulf of Mexico waters could mean "severe” storm activity this spring. 


Weather Alert: Funnel Clouds


Auntie Em, it’s a twister! Well, locals should not worry about building storm shelter, but they should keep an eye on the elements. The National Weather Service (NWS) is warning that tropical  funnel could be spotted in Louisiana on Tuesday (5.17).


Jazz Fest Weather Watch


With Jazz Fest days away, it’s once again time to start clicking refresh on your weather apps constantly. Right now, the National Weather Service is predicting sunny skies and highs around 80 during the first weekend of the fest. However, the next few days are looking wet which means that on Friday (4.22) will most likely mean that the hay and the mud is out at the Fair Grounds. Click on through for the full forecast.

A simple look at the ominous black clouds outside will reveal that the weather is pretty poor today. The National Weather Service (NWS) said that the forecast remains bleak for the next few days. A series of warnings and advisories about wind and water are in effect for Orleans Parish. In addition, Delgado, UNO, and Nunez have all cancelled classes through Monday.


Weather Alert


Storm’s a comin’! The National Weather Service (NWS) issued a slew of alerts and warning for South Louisiana for Tuesday (2.23) and Wednesday (2.24). The agency warns that severe storms, high winds, and even tornados could strike the region soon.


Stormy Sunday


Following a very, very warm Christmas, some nasty weather is heading New Orleans’ way. The National Weather Service (NWS) is warning that severe thunderstorms, 60 mph winds, and the potential for tornados are in store for the Crescent City.


Amazing Grace


Hurricane Season is not quite over yet. Although summer and the K10 onslaught have passed, storm threats have not. Out in the Atlantic, on a path towards the Leeward Islands, Tropical Storm Grace continues to plow west.


Tropical Outlook: Erika Disturbed, Not Depressed; Fred Forms


Erika was once a hurricane, but the downgrades continued as she stormed west. By Saturday (8.29), she was just depressed. Now the National Weather Service (NWS) says Erika is nothing more than a “disturbance.” Eyes have turned to the African coast where Tropical Storm Fred has already formed.
