The New Movement's Comedy Night Out for NoDef Yuks Up Your Sunday

Courtesy of Harry Shearer, we had plenty of laughs at Tuesday's Night Out for NoDef. So, why not keep the guffaws going? Tomorrow night, The New Movement is generously providing the venue and the source of those chuckles to benefit NOLA Defender in the wake of our recent office burglary at their newly christened comedy theatre in the Marigny Triangle (1919 Burgundy). At the 8:00 p.m. event, NoDef editor B.E. Mintz will reprise his turn in the yarn spinner's chair of TNM's Megaphone Night. That is to say, Mintz will provide the stories and TNM will provide the improv.

Night Out for NoDef Features Music, Art, Shearer

On the heels of last week's burglary at NOLA Defender headquarters, one commenter said it best: "I'd be happy to contribute what I can, but this is NOLA, where's the benefit concert?" Well, he's right. And so, Night Out for NoDef was born. Mark your calendars for Tuesday, March 20. That night, comic actor, documentarian and man of many other descriptors Harry Shearer will MC an evening of music art at the Blue Nile (532 Frenchmen St.).  Music will be provided by  NoDef playlist alums Honey Island Swamp Band and Helen Gillet along with a silent auction featuring works by Susan Gisleson, Zack Jacobs, Lance Vargas and more. The cover charge for the evening is $10.
