Blush Hour: Red Dress Run 2013

It’s the Friday before Red Dress Run, the time when men all over New Orleans begin begging their feminine friends to borrow frocks. For the second year in a row, festivities begin and end at Armstrong Park. The countdown is on, but there’s still time to preregister for the least athletic two-mile run of the year. Stop by the Racetrack on Gentilly Blvd. until 9pm tonight, and spend $70 for charity, beer, live music, and daylong debauchery. Participants can also register the morning of for $75.

Many Rights at Saturday's Red Dress Run

by Mary-Devon Dupuy

New Orleanians love to dress up and drink for charity, and one of our midsummer favorite excuses to run amok in the streets is the Red Dress Run. Saturday, August 11, thousands will arrive early and scantily clad to prepare for their race to raise money for a long list of local nonprofits. The route is usually around three miles long, but participants’ registration money covers all the food, music, and beer they’ll need for all the physical exertion.
