Foburg's Expanding Footprint2012 Edition of Pre-SXSW Alt Music Fest Features More Bands, Comedy and FilmWhile year-round, New Orleans may not be a top destination for indie rock, once a year the city's fortuitous proximity to the nation's largest alternative music festival has many of the best up-and-coming bands in the country passing through on their way to South By Southwest in Austin, TX. Last Round of FoburgAs the weekend winds into Monday, it's time to close the book on this year's Foburg Fest. The second edition of the New Orleans Indie Rock Collective-curated extragavanza has brought a diverse lineup, and tonight is no different. From the father of Sierra Leone's Bubu music form to New Orleans bounce to country rock from Athens, Ga., the table is set for a multi-course feast of good tunes. Full schedule after the jump. Marleyfest to Raise Funds for New GrassThanks to thieves who took the New Grass Country Club's cash, personal belongings and most of their insturments while the band was playing in Shreveport, the group is currently on hiatus. But in the vaccum, yet another NOLA fest has formed. Tomorrow, to raise money for the band, fellow New Orleans Indie Rock Collective members Native America, Sun Hotel and Caddywhompus will play the premiere Marleyfest. Organizers of the new festival are apparently well schooled in the art of subtlety, as it's set to kick of at 4:20 p.m. The Mudlark Public Theatre, an up-and-coming space on Port St. in the Bywater, hosts.
