If the Shoe Fitts: Penn Dean Tapped to Lead Tulane

With a unanimous vote from the Board, Michael A. Fitts was named the 15th President of Tulane University Tuesday. Fitts, who currenly serves as dean of the University of Pennsylvania's law school, is expected to begin his term on July 1 after the university’s current president, Scott Cowen, retires after 16 years with the university.


UNO Budget Woes Force Staff Cuts, Outsourcing


As a new school year starts, the University of New Orleans is girding for big cuts. The publicly-funded school has a budget hole of about $40 million. To make up for the losses, the school is doing everything from outsourcing the bookstore to reducing employee travel to shedding staff via firings and buyouts. The school detailed plans today.
