Sound Off on Noise Ordinance at Musicians' Roundtable SaturdayOver the summer, Councilwoman Kristin Gisleson Palmer began circulating a draft of a new ordinance that would regulate noise in the streets of New Orleans. As NoDef reported at the time, the draft proposes separate sound regulations for the French Quarter and Frenchmen, and neighborhoods in general. In addition, it sets out to standardize how sound readings will be taken. But beyond all the decibel meters, you're probably wondering, 'How does this affect me?' Tomorrow at 2 p.m., a group of musicians will hold a roundtable discussion at Sound Cafe (2700 Chartres St.) to run down what the ordinance means for music on the street. Music lovers are welcome. |
