Museum Mayhem

LSU is playing early today which leaves plenty of time for some culture—free. Saturday, September 26th, museums across the city are putting away their cash registers to honor the Smithsonian Institute. Eight institutes will be celebrating Smithsonian Day with free admission and tours. The holiday encourages the public visit cultural centers without a price to enrich themselves and honor our national museum.

Today In NOLA 9.26.15

There’s no shortage of things to do this Saturday in New Orleans. Tipitina’s teamed up with Galactic to produce The Landing Festival, which kicks off today. It’s Smithsonian Museum Day Live with free entrance to multiple museums. Celebrity Lea Michelle will sign her book, You First, at Garden District Book Shop, and NOLA on Tap will bring beer to the City Park Festival Grounds. On this day in 1997, Louisiana guitarist James Burton made it on to Hollywood’s Rock Wall. Now, more to do this Saturday.

Today in NOLA: 12.2.14

A dense fog advisory was in effect this morning in New Orleans. The Canal Street Ferry and Algiers Ferry are not running due to the weather conditions. Only the right lane is open on the Causeway going outbound. Last night (Dec 1) Senator Mary Landrieu and Rep. Bill Cassidy debated in Baton Rouge - their final debate before runoff election day. Many museums close on Mondays in New Orleans, but on Tuesday, exhibits open back up to the public. Also tonight, the Cathedral series continues with Crescent City Brass Quintet, Yo Gabba Gabba! is at the Saegner, and Stanton Moore Trio gets funky at Snug Harbor.
