Charles Grant Remembers Will Smith



From 2002 until 2009, defensive end Charles Grant helped the Saints stifle opposing offenses. For five of those years, Grant played alongside his friend and “brother” Will Smith. In the wake of Smith’s tragic death, Grant talked with NOLA Defender about the former Saints captain, New Orleans, and guns.

Will Smith’s family will privately mourn the retired Saints star on Saturday (4.16). However, the Who Dat Nation will have the opportunity to say their farewells at a visitation on Friday (4.15) at the team practice facility (5800 Airline Drive).

The City of New Orleans was shaken by the murder of former Saints star Will Smith this weekend. The shooting raised questions about violence in the Crescent City and sadness about the loss of a beloved local hero. Overnight Crime Report: Three Rapes, Homicide, Battery


Three women reported being raped, a unidentified man was shot to death, and a robbery attempt turned into a beating on Tuesday (3.29) according to the New Orleans Police Department (NOPD).


Overnight Crime Report: Domestic Violence, Shootings, Armed Robberies


The New Orleans Police Department had their hands full with crimes including homicides, armed robberies, a hotel stickup, and domestic violence on Saturday (3.26) according to the Major Offense Log (MOL).


Overnight Crime Report: Two Homicides, Sexual Assault


Two men died in shootings, a woman was raped, and a third man also died, most likely of natural causes, on Friday (3.18) night according to the New Orleans Police Department (NOPD).


Overnight Crime Report: 3 Shootings, 2 Carjackings, Domestic Violence


Crime was bad again on Tuesday (3.09) according to the Major Offense Log (MOL). The New Orleans Police Department (NOPD) reported responding to three shootings, two carjackings, and a case of domestic violence.


Overnight Crime Report: 4 Shootings, 2 Cuttings, Robbery


The Major Offense Log (MOL) for Monday (3.07) listed four shooting incidents, two stabbings, and a stickup according to the New Orleans Police Department (NOPD).


Overnight Crime Report: Fatal Wreck, Shootings, Rape, Kendall the Devil


The NOPD’s Major Offense Log (MOL) for Saturday (3.05) includes a long roster of wrongdoing. The police reported that a crook called “Kendall the Devil” is running rampant, two shootings, a college student’s suicide, a juvenile rape, a mugged cabbie, and a fatal four car accident.
