Free HIV, Heptatis C Screening Now Offered at Muni Court


HIV and select Hepatitis C testing will now be offered free of charge to citizens and inmates that come before the Orleans Parish Municipal Courts. The test will be offered on behalf of a new partnership with NO/AIDS Task Force, Project IMPACT, and New Orleans Municipals Court Chief Judge Desiree Charbonnet. 


Working at Court Runs in Judge's Family, Watchdog Says


A judge is being accused of trying to build a "dynasty" at the municipal courthouse, and it doesn't involve spending millions on all-stars from other places. Since 2000, 18 of Judge Paul Sens' relatives were hired to work at the court, according to a letter released by New Orleans Inspector General Ed Quatrevaux that says the arrangement creates the "appearance of abuse." Seven Sens relatives that still work at the court pulled in $1.2 million in salaries since 2010. Read the full story at The Lens.
