Sinkhole de Mayo


The mix of an excuse for a party and public infrastructure failure is distinctly New Orleans. Likewise, the mix of a small joke and big, viral reaction is distinct to our modern web powered society. These world collided on Tuesday (5.03) when a Sinkhole de Mayo party became an instant rage. Then, organizers were faced with the dilemma of managing a joke that became a very real event for over 1000 people.


Flooding May Move USC Game to Tiger Stadium


New Orleanians know a few things about flooding and football teams in diaspora. So, there is little pleasure to be had in the most recent news about LSU’s Saturday (9.10) matchup against the University of South Carolina (USC). The State is reporting that USC may move the SEC showdown to Baton Rouge on account of the devastation in Columbia.


Mega-Move for MegaBus


The MegaBus is a popular means of getting from city to city cheaply. However, the discount service has not been popular with residents of the Marigny. Since the company began operating from Elysian Fields in April 2011, locals have been campaigning to move the service to a proper terminal. On Tuesday (8.12), MegaBus announced that they will indeed move to an actual bus station.


King James to Reign From Sidney's


It is no secret that the Bywater is changing. In a sign of the times, King James and the Special Men are ending there long running residency at BJ’s (4301 Burgundy Street) and switching neighborhoods to Sidney’s Saloon (1200 St. Bernard Avenue).
