Cemeteries are part of South Louisiana culture. So is Louisiana State University football. One grad student at LSU thinks that two staples are not  that far removed from one another. Tim Landry introduced a bill into the Student Government Senate urging the creation of a tomb or mausoleum for the beloved mascot Mike the Tiger.


LSU: Mike the Tiger Questionable for Saturday's Game


As another LSU football Saturday approaches, the roar is already starting to pick up throughout the state. But we won't know until gameday whether one of the Bayou Bengals' most ferocious roars will be at Tiger Stadium Saturday night. Mike the Tiger -- the live mascot who lives in a habitat on the LSU campus -- skipped the home opener, and won't decide whether to make the trip over to Death Valley until just before game time. But don't worry, say Mike's trainers, he's healthy.

LSU's Mike the Tiger in Battle for Mascot Supremacy


At Tiger Stadium this Saturday, the Tigers and Gamecocks will be represented by large young men in helmets and pads. But this week, the two mascots get to be themselves in a heated battle taking place right here on the Internet. LSU and Les Miles' own Tiger Son Mike the Tiger is going to head to head with Cocky, the stuffed South Carolina likeness, in this week's edition of the Capital One Mascot Challenge.


LSU Athletic Dept. Lends a Hand to Academics, Mike the Tiger


As football season draws nigh, the LSU Athletic Department is doling out a few gifts to help keep the lights on for the Tiger faithful, and one real tiger. On Monday, the Department announced a one-time contribution of $4 million to the academic section of the university to help cover costs. The contribution comes as the university faces stiff budget cuts from the state. According to LSU, the one-time contribution is the largest of its kind in school history.


SEC Media Days Goes to the Mad Hatter

As SEC Media Days continues, Les Miles is stepping into the spotlight today for the first time since disowning his Tiger Son. In addition to an update on the status of his relationship with Mike the Tiger, the LSU football head coach is expected to give the Mad Hatter predictions on the upcoming season. QB Zack Mettenberger, WR Odell Beckham Jr. and DB Eric Reid also made the trip to Tuscoloosa.
