Marigny Mugger Caught Attacking Woman on Camera (VIDEO)

A mugging in the Marigny Triangle was caught on tape, and now police are looking to ID the man who jumped out of a car and put a woman in a headlock on Burgundy Street early Friday morning. According to police, the woman and a friend were walking at about 1:15 a.m. in the 1900 block of Burgundy when a man attacked. He allegedly jumped out of a silver car, put the woman in a headlock and hit her several times in the face. The man demanded the pair's property, but then got back into the car, and didn't take any items. Watch the incident, via a ProjectNOLA crime camera:

New Orleans Police Blotter: May 2-9

On this week's docket of dereliction, a group of strip club workers decided they needed more money from another employee's purse, a rental car was used to make a getaway and Ms. Jackson showed she was for real in an argument over laundry. The New Movement's Comedy Night Out for NoDef Yuks Up Your Sunday

Courtesy of Harry Shearer, we had plenty of laughs at Tuesday's Night Out for NoDef. So, why not keep the guffaws going? Tomorrow night, The New Movement is generously providing the venue and the source of those chuckles to benefit NOLA Defender in the wake of our recent office burglary at their newly christened comedy theatre in the Marigny Triangle (1919 Burgundy). At the 8:00 p.m. event, NoDef editor B.E. Mintz will reprise his turn in the yarn spinner's chair of TNM's Megaphone Night. That is to say, Mintz will provide the stories and TNM will provide the improv.

Burgundy Brawl: 2 Critical After Sat. Night Stabbing, Beating in Marigny

MARIGNY TRIANGLE - A post-Krewe de Vieux skirmish in the 1900 block of Burgundy left two men in critical condition Saturday night, New Orleans police confirmed. Around 11:30 p.m., neighbors observed a loud argument between two groups of people that began on Burgundy between Touro and Pauger. Ultimately, the altercation escalated into violence, ending with multiple stabbings and at least one beating, witnesses said.

Marigny Crime Wave

Armed Robbery Spikes in Area Surrounding Frenchmen St.

Over the last month, there's a significant spike in crime and armed robberies in particular in the Marigny Triangle. As can be expected in an area with a heavy nightlife contingent, thieves have been targeting people walking to their cars from Frenchmen St. But the crimes haven't all been cut from the same cast.

Two weeks ago, Max Braun who was in the process of moving to the area from Atlanta was robbed almost as soon as he got out of his car.
