Magnolia Shorty Murder Investigation Continues The late Magnolia Shorty's famous friends have come to pay their respects, and a jazz funeral gave her a fitting send-off late last year. But police are still working to piece together the details of her murder. Today, NOPD said they are seeking Brandon Singleton, 24, who might have information about the Dec. 20, 2010, double murder that took one of the city's Bounce icons and Jerome "Man-Man" Hampton. Police said Singleton is an Uptown resident. Rumors have long persisted that Hampton was the target of the New Orleans East killing, but few official details have been released. Just after noon, Magnolia (born Renetta Lowe) was driving with who is still an unidentified male victim, when the two were sprayed with gunfire in Shorty's own neighborhood in the East, in the 6300 Block of Bridgehampton Drive.
