Ashé's Holiday Sashay

The Ashé Cultural Arts Center is not an establishment built upon clichés. So, it is no suprprise that the organization will be hosting holiday celebrations that extend far beyond the typical carols and trees. On Wednesday (12.02), Ashé dropped their December schedule and the lineup is loaded with truly unique events including light shows, the roving musical village, and of course Kwanza festivities.

Light Bright: Luna Fete Returns

LUNA Fete (Light Up NOLA Arts) debuted at Gallier Hall last year and became an instant classic. A diverse crowd ranging from families to teens in altered states packed Lafayette Square to watch a sound an light installation tell the City’s history using the Greek Revival façade of the architectural landmark as a canvas. In 2016, the show is returning, but much, much bigger.

Architectural Canvas Luna Fete

LUNA Fete (Light Up NOLA Arts) has been in full sway since Sunday (11.30). The light and sound installation puts on a nine minute show featuring a jazzed up brass soundtrack plus visuals projected onto Gallier Hall to go with it. The three dimensional experience continues until December 6 and is lighting up the Greek Revival façade facing Lafayette Square like never before.

Today in NOLA: 11.30.2014

On this day in 1769, officials met for the first time in the Cabildo. Hopefully the Saints can steel a win in Pittsburgh today. Kick off is at noon in the open air stadium. Sleepy LaBeef performs at Chickie Wah Wah, and Luna Fete, an architectural light show at Gallier Hall starts tonight and lasts thru Dec 6.

Bright Christmas: Tree Lighting, Gallier Hall Light Show, More

Thanksgiving is a week away which means that Christmas preparations are in over-drive. The Quarter will light up a tree tonight. In the CBD, Gallier Hall is prepping for a high-tech light show, and the New Orleans Marketing and Tourist Corporation (NOTMC) unveiled a new publicity campaign for the season.
