Today in NOLA 3.17.17

Feeling green? St. Patrick's Day festivities will be occurring all over town today, offering your weekend fill of beads and beers. Mainline Brass Band will be taking the Maple Leaf stage, while Loose Marbles is holding court at Dragon's Den. Gasa Gasa is hosting Mykki Blanco and Cakes da Killa in a can't-miss show, and Ocean Disco is bringing their one-of-a-kind sound to Bon Temps. As legend has it, the first ever "coffee break" was initiated by the managers of the Delta Steamship company who called some 80 employees to the Hibernia building on this day in New Orleans in 1930 to drink the caffeinated beverage and take a recess. Now, more to do this Friday.

Today in NOLA, there is music to suit all tastes. So, check out some brass, Americans, swing, or funk. On this day in 1961, the famous Preservation Hall officially opened its doors. Now, more to do this Friday.

Today in NOLA: 6.13.15

There’s still some festin’ to be done today in the Quarter. Plus, bicyclists are getting nekked. If you’re feeling more traditional, there’s lots of music once the sun goes down. On this day in 1964, Louis Armstrong hit the top of the album chart with Hello, Dolly!. Find those dancing shoes and get ready for more tonight.

Meschiya Lake

Hola Nola: A Celebrity Mixtape Series- Vol XIII

Hola Nola- and hola Meschiya Lake, baroness of the Little Big Horns, and Frenchmen St. fixture. Originally from South Dakota, Lake moved to New Orleans with the Circus in 2000, started as a street performer, and would often be found performing on Royal with the Loose Marbles. As we wish all true talents would, she eventually worked her way indoors.
