Mardi Gras Hit Scheme Stonewalled Along with breaking up a fight involving one of their own and arrest actioning a lot of people in the French Quarter, police say they stopped a murder-for-hire plot this week that was set to go down on Mardi Gras Day. According to NOPD spokeswoman Remi Braden, Joseph Edwards, 42, who Da Paper reports is a former Lucky Dog vendor, allegedly left traces of a plan to kill an unnamed local businessman for whom he once worked. Edwards was cooking up a scheme to rob the businessman's safe, which allegedly contained $150K-200K, and then hire someone to kill him on Mardi Gras Day.
