Keith Eric "Big Daddy" Gisleson Passes

The obituary section of our local paper is often a trove of anecdotal snippets about this city's famous characters. But it's rare that so many appear next to the name of a single man. In today's issue of Da Paper, John Pope runs down the life of a longtime lawyer who fought the big names in court and stood up for the little guys. Keith Eric "Big Daddy" Gisleson, who died Friday at the age of 69, has some names attached to him that you may have heard: Al Copeland, Anne Rice, Carlos Marcello, Archbishop Philip Hannan, Jim Garrison and Eric Holder. And of course there's his daughter, City Councilwoman Kristin Gisleson Palmer. It goes without saying that to get a place among all these outsized personalities, one must of course be in the club themselves. Read the obit here.
