JazzFest Food: Cecelia Husing's Strawberry Shortcake Amid the rows and rows of food stalls at Jazz Fest (and rows, and rows—the Fest has somwhere in the neighborhood of seven thousand food areas now), you can find everything from Vietnamese noodles and Tunisian salad to crawfish beignets, grilled chicken livers, po-boys, and plantains. If you keep your eyes peeled in Food Area 2, you can find a little stand marked simply, "Strawberry Shortcake/Key Lime Tart." JazzFest Refresher: WWOZ's Mango Freeze by Kat Arnold While indulging the ears to the sound of music, don't deny those other senses the experiences of JazzFest. Whether Fest is a time dancing on your feet or lounging back on a blanket, a day in the hot New Orleans sun requires something to cool the parched tongue. Located halfway between the Gentilly and Fais Do Do stages, the WWOZ booth offers a particularly refreshing sweet treat. The radio station that keeps the sounds of New Orleans on the airwaves also brings a fantastic way to restore the inner cool with their mango freeze. Broad's BountyInside the Clean Zone Inside the Fair Grounds Race Course, a makeshift city is constructed every year for the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival. Not merely a music festival, JazzFest is designed as an all-encompassing showcase of New Orleans culture. But, outside the track's long fences, there is an entire neighborhood that springs to life each year with commerce - and, this being New Orleans, curioso.
