St. Patrick's Day Irish Channel Parade Set for Saturday

Once a year, New Orleans’ Irish Channel lives up to its name as the spot to party for St. Patrick’s Day. The Irish Channel St. Patrick’s Day Parade falls on the Saturday before March 17. Hundreds of men will don suits and distribute flowers to crowds, oftentimes for the price of a peck on the cheek. If the float riders are generous with throws, those on the route could collect a whole meal's worth of catches.

Find another green shirt to throw on, or you’ll definitely get pinched. Enjoy block parties, parades, and more to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day weekend. On this day in 1999, local greats Roosevelt Sykes and Clarence “Gatemouth” Brown were inducted into the Blues Hall of Fame in Washington, D.C. Now, more to do this beautiful Saturday.
